i was looking into two bibles by the jw's.

one was written in 1909 which was called the the holy bible american standard version.

the other obviously the new world translation.

They had the cross and crown emblem on the publications for ages, not sure to when but guessing at the 1930s. The fuss over the stauros came later.

i'm gonna play the skeptic today on a topic that is painful for a lot of people on this forum.

my intent is not to stir anything up but to make sure facts are confirmed.

The whois lookup on the hosting site now shows NO DATA, ...not sure if that's too many hits on it causing it or if it has been removed.

This type of scenario is exactly why so many of us HATE the Rick Fearon type of sensationalism so much. Once on that path the urge to make headway against the WTS WILL override good judgement and common sense. ANY lie, mistatement, misrepresentation, however small WILL undo a great deal of hard work and make all apostates fit the mould the WTS casts us in, ...untrustworthy liars. The net result is that many doubting JWs run straight back to mother again.

Covering a deception, or a blunder, with anything but brutal honesty will just serve to weaken further that persons credibility. And that is all we have to trade on, CREDIBILITY. Once it's lost you never get it back. These are general statements, aimed at the larger goal of making headway against the WTS, not to be taken as statements against any person in particular (except Rick of course).

I'm gonna say it again,... this guy is at the very least an idiot. Im going further, ...he's a dangerous idiot.

The website has removed the image and now has this note:

Note from Steven Unthank: About a week ago I was sent a pencil drawing of a young girl crying. The picture touched my heart and the pain of this child's helplessness made me too shed a tear. The image came from the family of a young rape victim in the Traralgon Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. The drawing did not look like the child in anyway. I decided to use this picture as an "image", not just to represent the abuse inflicted upon this families child that I have grown to care for, but for all the children. Last night I posted the image on this web page and described it as "a pencil drawing is an image". I used the phrase "image" to describe the drawing in the sense of a ‘mental image'. Many people have been offended by this and I sincerely apologize for any offence I have caused. I have replaced the drawing with "the sun to make you happy" a drawing actually done by the young child I was referring to and given to me as a gift. Steven Unthank.

This still leaves questions about the original image.

He now states it was sent by the family of one of the victims in the Traralgon Congregation. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm....

This is defo getting very very fishy indeed. I saw that image and the caption and felt sick, no bloody way could that image be used IF it was for real!! If it's bogus (it is) then that is very nearly as bad.

That update a few weeks back basically accusing the WTS of Scientology levels of interference and dirty tricks to get the case thrown out smelled off to me then, this now is starting to stink like a big pile of bullshit.

For the love of god will those in the know and in the middle of this with ANY credibility PLEASE rein it in and stop all this from blowing up thru sheer dumb ineptitude!!
